A First for the Region: Span Introduces SCALLOG Robotics to Transform Luxury Logistics
SPAN and SCALLOG announce the success of the first SCALLOG Goods-to-Person automated system in the UAE at Chalhoub Group’s DIP warehouse, boosting productivity and easing operators’ workload.

SPAN and SCALLOG are excited to announce the success of the first SCALLOG automated goods-to-person picking system in the region, now fully operational at Chalhoub Group’s DIP warehouse in the UAE. Over the past year, the system has helped the company handle growing e-commerce orders more efficiently, particularly in the beauty sector, while creating a smoother, more productive environment for operators.
Chalhoub Group turned to SPAN for a solution that could meet the demands of fragmented orders and high-volume operations on an existing mezzanine. The result was a flexible, scalable SCALLOG solution that brings shelves directly to pickers, dramatically reducing walking time and significantly boosting efficiency.
The system features three workstations and 12 autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) managing 110 shelves. Since deployment, the system has achieved outstanding results:
- Order processing times cut by up to five times
- Staff requirements reduced by 50 percent
- Overall picking productivity improved by up to 6 times
“This project has been a game-changer,” said Elias Najem, SPAN Technical Director. “Automation isn’t just about speed—it’s about making life easier for people on the warehouse floor, giving them a more efficient, less stressful environment while keeping accuracy and performance high.”
Ahmad Hamdy, Vice President of E-commerce Fulfilment at Chalhoub Group, praised the SPAN team: “They were extremely professional and reliable, and their support from start to finish was outstanding.”
Thanks to the SCALLOG solution, Chalhoub Group has been able to absorb e-commerce growth, enhance picking productivity, and handle peak periods more smoothly, all while providing operators with a safer, more organized workspace.
This milestone marks not just a technical achievement, but a step forward in modernizing luxury logistics in the region.
